INEC Opens Ad-Hoc Staff Recruitment 2026 for FCT Area Council Election

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced vacancies for Ad-Hoc Staff ahead of the 2026 Federal Capital Territory (FCT)Area Council Election. Recruitment is being conducted through the INEC Personnel Recruitment System (INECPRES).

Eligible residents of the FCT are invited to apply for various election duty roles, provided they meet the stated requirements.

Available Ad-Hoc Positions

• Supervisory Presiding Officers (SPOs)
• Presiding Officers (POs)
• Assistant Presiding Officers (APO I, II & III)
• Registration Area Centre (RAC) Managers
• Registration Area Tech Support Staff (RATECHSS)

Eligibility Criteria

1. Supervisory Presiding Officers (SPOs)

Source Institutions:

• Federal Public/Civil Service & MDAs
• INEC Staff

Qualification:

• Permanent staff on Grade Level 10–14
• INEC staff not engaged in other election duties

2. Presiding Officers (POs) & Assistant Presiding Officers (APOs)

• Serving NYSC Corps Members
• Former NYSC members (not later than 4 years post-service: 2022–2025)
• INEC permanent staff on Grade Level 07–08
• Federal and State MDAs staff with OND or Grade Level 07–10
• Penultimate students of Federal Tertiary Institutions

3. RAC Managers

• Heads of schools/institutions hosting RAC or Super RAC
• Suitable staff of such institutions on Grade Level 07 and above

4. Registration Area Tech Support Staff (RATECHSS)

• INEC ICT staff only (State Offices & Headquarters)
• Must not be engaged in any other election duties

General Requirements

• Applicants must reside in the FCT
• Applicants must not be members of any political party
• Applicants must not have expressed support for any candidate or party

Closing Date: Saturday, 19th January 2026 by 12:00 Midnight
